ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz received Sweden’s former prime minister Carl Bildt here on Tuesday.
Carl was accompanied by Director General Political Affairs Anna Karin Enestrom at the Foreign Office.
Discussions focused on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern including United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reforms and cooperation at international fora.
While expressing satisfaction on the excellent bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sweden, the two sides agreed on further strengthening economic ties.
The adviser briefed the Swedish delegation about Pakistan’s counter terrorism efforts, the successes achieved during the military operation Zarb-e-Azb, as well as the comprehensive policy (National Action Plan) to root out the menace of terrorism and extremism from Pakistani soil.
He also elaborated the prime minister’s policy of peaceful neighborhood and efforts for establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan which has a direct bearing on the security of Pakistan.
He appreciated Pakistan’s progress in the consolidation of democracy, improvement in economy and defeating terrorism.
