LARKANA: The SEPCO, Larkana, authorities led by Executive Engineer (XEN), Mushtaque Burdi & other linemen have disconnected electricity supply to various government offices on Tuesday including Larkana Mayor office, Taluka Municipal Offices (TMO), street lights, central prison, EDO (Health), SCARP pumping stations and approximately 300 villages on account of non-payment of arrears.
Burdi told Media here on Tuesday that Rs:2.5 billion are outstanding against mayor Larkana office, TMO offices and street lights. Arrears of Rs 30 million are outstanding against Central Prison, Rs 80 million against NSUSC connections, Primary & Secondary schools of Larkana have to pay eight crore rupees, EDO (H) office five million rupees and SCARP pumping stations have to clear three crore rupees. He said the supply has been disconnected on the directive of the higher authorities and will not be restored till outstanding amount is not cleared. Mayor Muhammad Aslam Shaikh said that the offices of SEPCO located on Ladies Jail road & Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Stadium road are the properties of LMC but they have never paid any rent of the said premises to LMC. He further said that all electricity poles installed in Larkana are also in the limits of LMC for which no rent has so far been deposited by them. Shaikh said that now they will realize full rent of offices and poles from SEPCO which will be from the dates of their occupation of LMC properties and erection of poles. He said that survey of the requisite poles has been initiated for which he has instructed his employees to complete without further loss of time & submit detailed report. Shaikh said that as soon as he received the survey report he will send bill to SEPCO authorities for payment. Mayor said that there is no government budget available for clearing arrears of power bills adding over-reading issue has not yet been resolved by SEPCO.
