KARACHI: The PS 93 presiding officer, Waheedullah was arrested today on account of dereliction of duty.
Waheedullah was on duty and allegedly he sent another person to replace him on the polling station. The police have taken Waleedullah in custody on orders of the Returning Officer of PS 93, however his accomplice, Zaid has not yet been arrested.
Interestingly, in the morning the warrant for the arrest of the Section Officer of PS-107 was also issued on account of extreme negligence.
Section Officer Treasury Department Ghulam Hussain Bhagio also failed to show up at the polling station despite reminders and a warrant for his arrest has also been issued per orders of the Returning Officer of the constituency.
1.6 million electoral staff are to be on duty on the election day including 449,465 policemen and 300,071 army personnel.
