PESHAWAR: The PESCO management here on Thursday requested the PTI led provincial government and all other concerned departments to take cogent measures for safety and protection of its staff and installations in the wake of recent protest demonstration against load-shedding in the province.
“Owing to severe heat wave and an excessive use of electricity in Ramzan, load has been increased too much and PESCO management has appealed consumers to avoid an excessive use of electricity and minimize its use in public interest,” the PESCO said in a statement today.
“The illegal use of electricity through direct-hooks is causing
load-shedding problem and are making hindrance in smooth power supply, therefore, all illegal connections must be immediately removed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Ramazan,” it said.
“The blockage of roads and attack on PESCO installations is not solution of problem of load shedding rather removal of direct hooks and payment of electricity bills is the only way to address this issue.”
The people of Badbher, Bara Road, LandiArbab, Kohat Road, Shabqadar and Charsadda have protested against load-shedding despite 70% to 99% line losses in these areas and demanded change of load-shedding schedule. The PESCO Chief has approved implementation of old routine load shedding schedule in high losses areas. The PESCO said an illegal use of electricity was the main cause of load-shedding in these areas and few other areas of KP and urged people to immediately remove direct hooks to ensure smooth supply of electricity in the holy month of Ramazan.
